In the holidays I went to Nangiloc to go camping. We went with friends, their father and a family from Horsham. We went down to the river on Tuesday and left on the Saturday. On the first night it rained all night and it was hard to get to sleep. On Friday night we were sitting around the fire one of the rods had a fish on the end of it and I reeled it in and it was a 6-7 pound carp. We buried the fish in the ground.
Also in the holidays I went to Horsham for a diabetes appointment. We stayed with the family from Horsham that we went camping with.On the first day we went shopping and I got some shoes for Canberra. I also had diabetes education that day. The next day I had my HBA1C which is an average of the last three months of blood sugar levels. My level was 7.6 which is good because it is supposed to be between 6 and 8. We travelled home later that day.
‘Where did you go?’ Write about the first vacation that pops into your head.
10th August 2009- In January, 2009, my family and I went to Queensland for a holiday, for 2 weeks. We flew from Mildura to Melbourne, Melbourne to Coolangatta, which is in Queensland. We went to Movie World and my dad and I went on the Batman Spaceshot. The ride went straight up about 40 - 50 metres. It looked really fast but it wasn't. When we were waiting in line everyone who went on screamed and I felt like not going on but I did. I started laughing when my dad was screaming on it. My dad and I also went on the Superman Escape Roller Coaster. It went about 100kms per second on the ride. The ride went straight up, down and around. It was fun. My sister and mum were too scared too go on either of the rides.
Thursday 23rd of July-
Where do your eyes go first? Write something (truth or fiction) that begins and ends with someone looking in a mirror.
I was standing looking in the mirror at my face. It was silent except for my sister snoring in the background. I had been looking in the mirror for 15 minutes every single night for 1 long month because my friends dared me to. I went back to bed, I don't know why I did this, but I went into my sister's room and decided to draw on her face just to see what she would do in the morning.
In the morning I heard my sister scream. It was 10 in the morning. I stood around waiting for tonight so I would have to look in the mirror at my face.
Tuesday 14th of July-
I used to own a pet rabbit, Patch. I loved him. I owned him for one day but then he broke his leg. We had to put him down. I wish I still owned him. I will never forget him and that day we spent together.
Tuesday 23rd of June-
The book that blew my mind was called 'New Moon'. I felt like I was in the book looking at what happened. The characters, animals and vampires were really descriptive. It was so magnificient and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. I would recommend this book to people 11 years and older. I think this because it has difficult words in it, where younger people would not understand and they would not know what would happen in the book. People older than 11 years old will thoroughly enjoy reading this book like I have.
3-6-09- We had an experiment which involved Grade 6's giving their netbook to a Grade 5 for a day.
OMG!!!!!! NOT HAVING MY NETBOOK WAS TERRIBLE!! It was so annoying because I relied so much on my netbook. Now I know how the Grade 5's feel. It was so annoying because I did some work on the classroom computer and I had to put it on a memory stick then put my work back on my netbook. It was really ANNOYING!!!
2-6-09 The netbooks-
On the 25th of March the Grade 6 students, who paid $52 per year, got their netbooks (like mini laptops.) I paid $52 so I got this awesome netbook on that day. The programs that the netbooks have are audacity (voice recording), photo story, many different games and the usual things computers have (microsoft word, excel and internet.) I enjoy having my netbook because they have lots of interesting things that you can do. I have learnt to use many different tools. In class we have been learning about xtranormal (if you can type you can make movies), our own wiki pages like this, photo story and many more programs. We use the netbooks for around 2-3 hours per day depending on what we use them for. Having the netbooks are a great opportunity to use many more things on computers and have more opportunities to use computers in the classroom. I like to share my netbook to give the Grade 5's, who didn't get one, the opportunity to use a netbook even though they didn't get one.
My Goals-
Literacy- To use more descriptive language in my writing.
I believe I have achieved this goal because I have been practicing using descriptive language.
My pieces of evidence are:
* Writing a story using descriptive language.
* Writing a poem using descriptive writing.
* Thinking in my head how I can use more descriptive language in my writing.
Numeracy- To learn how to multiply larger numbers in my head.
I believe I have achieved this goal because I have been practicing multiplying large numbers in my head.
My pieces of evidence are:
* Multiplying large numbers in my head when I need to work the large numbers out.
* Completing a table with large numbers.
* Completing a 2 digit by 2 digit multiplying table.
Personal- To read more challenging books.
I believe I have achieved this goal because I have been reading difficult books and understanding them.
My pieces of evidence are:
* Reading Twlight and New Moon
* Recording my reading in my diary
* Writing a summary about the book I have read, Sea Switch.
